  • Bernard Pivot's 10 questions - thanks James Lipton!

These 10 questions may be familiar to you as the questions James Lipton asks his guest at the end of the Inside the Actor's Studio series on Bravo TV. They originally came from a French series Bouillon de Culture hosted by Bernard Pivot.

James Lipton and Will Ferrell both do a killer impression of James Lipton.

    1. What is your favorite word?
Superfluous (I want to hear James Earl Jones say this word before he or I expire).
    2. What is your least favorite word?  No.
    3. What turns you on creatively, spiritually or emotionally?  A blank notebook page and an old, comfortable pen.
    4. What turns you off?  Closed-minded people.
    5. What's your favorite curse word?   I'm not a huge fan of cursing, it doesn't leave room for creativity in your speech.  I love the phrases people come up with when they actively avoid cursing.
    6. What sound or noise do you love?  James Earl Jones' voice.
    7. What sound or noise do you hate?  The sound baby rabbits made when I inadvertently hit their nest with a mower.  They may not have vocal chords, but they do scream.
    8. What profession other than your own would you like to attempt?  Writer, cinematographer, a cartoon character voice (I do a kickin' Blue from Blue's Clues), or an audiobook reader.
    9. What profession would you not like to do?  Any of the ones featured on Dirty Jobs.  I don't mind hard work, I just physically hate the feeling of something on my hands.
    10. If Heaven exists, what would you like to hear God say when you arrive at the Pearly Gates?  Come on in.  I've been waiting for you.

Your turn.  Blog it.  Post a link.  Share the love.

  • Countdowns

    T-Minus:

8 days until my birthday.  And it's a biggie.

5 days until one of my most treasured friends moves back into PA - but probably 19 days until I see him. Boo.

5 days until the beginning of NaNoWriMo.  Wonder how far I will get this year.

4 days until my husband and I continue our Halloween tradition of finding the absolute worst horror movie ever made - you know, the ones so terrible, so cheaply done, that you laugh the whole way through.  It's been about 15 years running and we've seen some pretty bad ones (Rabid Grannies, anyone?).  Taking suggestions.

3 days until pay day.  But it's already spent.

3 days until Christian and I get to see The Lion, the Witch, and the Wardrobe on stage.  I have a thing for Mr. Tumnus.

2 days until the Halloween Party at my preschool.  I'm gonna dress up for the first time since college.  Don't ask because I don't know what I will be.  Hey, I still have 2 days.

2 days until we get a washing machine delivered that doesn't need to take a half-hour break before embarking on the spin cycle.

0 days until I sit here at the computer, sharing my thoughts with the cyber-world while I absorb the glorious silence in the house, taking some much needed time to breathe.

Sometimes I spend so much time looking ahead, that I don't realize what's right in front of me.

@TastyAnonymity - Hee, hee "a sad gay". I just logged in and am in the process of responding to your latest msg. But I can't resist a word challenge like Stewie's [=
  • TastyAnonymity
Hm. I see you around, but I don't see your footie prints. This makes me a sad gay. Which is really ironic when you think about it.
  • TastyAnonymity
You footie prints almost made me happy wee!

@TastyAnonymity - Thanks for checking in on me. I've been ridiculously difficult recently, mired down with my own "what's the meaning of it all?", but thinking of you fondly. [=
